Day 1

Barcelona airport – Hotel

Arrive at Barcelona airport. Meet and greet after completing Immigration and Customs formalities, then transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax. There are plenty of options to keep you busy. Wander the labyrinthine streets of the old Gothic Quarter and navigate your way through the throngs of tourists along La Rambla, Barcelona's famous tree-lined boulevard. Perhaps pay a visit to the Picasso Museum, the National Art Museum of Catalonia or the Museum of City History to brush up on your local knowledge. Take the funicular to the top of Montjuic or Tibidabo for panoramic views of Barcelona and the harbour. The heart of Catalonia prides itself as a gastronomic centre and so this evening perhaps head out to taste the reputation for you. Take a tapas crawl through rustic Catalan dishes in the funky neighbourhood of El Born. Optional dinner. Overnight in Barcelona

Day 2

Barcelona (city tour) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we head to the stalls of Santa Catarina Market, a huge trove of local produce beneath a colourful, undulating roof, and hang out with the locals as they select the best produce that they’ll transform in to big weekend family meals. The city is famous for its architecture, from its impressive gothic main cathedral to the houses, concert halls, palaces and basilicas designed in the unique Catalan Modernista style. The master of this movement was Antonio Gaudi, whose eccentric creations are dotted all over the city. A visit to Gaudi's masterpiece, the modern cathedral of La Sagrada Familia, is a must, Gaudi worked on this hugely ambitious project for decades until his death, and it remains in constant construction. For more insight into the artist himself, we head to the Gaudi House Museum inside Parc Guell, home to more colourful sculptures, including a long mosaic-covered bench overlooking the city, before taking in Gaudi Park. Barcelona – Madrid (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Continue to explore all that Barcelona has to offer- maybe take in some shopping perhaps exploring an outlet shopping village such as LA Roca Village. At an appointed time, you will be transferred to Barcelona train station for the fast train to Madrid. Depart Barcelona by train to Madrid. On arrival at Madrid Station, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Optional dinner. Overnight in Madrid

Day 4

Madrid (city tour)

Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy an amazing half-day panoramic tour of Madrid. Pick-up at the hotel then drive to the Gran Via, the hustling and bustling part of Madrid‘s city center. Stop to admire the beautiful architecture of the area including the Metropolis Building and the Telefonica Building among others. Stop next at the Alcalá Gate in Plaza de la Independencia. This gate is one of Madrid’s most recognizable monuments. The Italian architect Francesco Sabatini designed this gate in the 18th century with a statue on top representing the cardinal virtues. Drive next to Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid’s soccer stadium. Free time to explore the stadium. Continue your panoramic tour driving by The Prado Museum, The Plaza de Cibeles, and The Fountain of Neptune. Enjoy a nice promenade in the old town of Madrid. Day 5

Madrid – Granada (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. At an appointed time, you will be transferred to Madrid train station for the train ride to Granda. Depart Madrid by train to Granada. Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy the city tour of Granada with a local guide. Visit Granada's impressive Alhambra Palace, set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Discover this 11th-century marvel and its dominating red fortress towers, sumptuous palace decor, multitude of architectural styles and magnificent gardens. The Moors built Alhambra as a fortress during the Muslim rule of Spain, and a walk through the compound's luxurious rooms and gardens gives you an idea of the decadent lifestyle of the Moorish kings. The Alhambra is made up of three parts: the Alcazaba, the 11th-century Muslim wing which features spectacular views from its towers; the Palacio Nazaries, the centre of the complex; and Generalife, the summer palace of the sultans. ptional lunch at a local restaurant. Granada – Seville (B)

Day 8

Seville (city tour) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. This morning we proceed to discover Seville. Checking out the world's largest Gothic cathedral is a must. You can also climb the cathedral's adjoining Moorish tower, known as La Giralda. While you might have to line up, it's well worth it for the views over the city. Visit the magnificent Alcazar (outside), a complex of palaces used by Moorish and Christian rulers through the ages. Wander through the fragrant gardens and examine the Moorish and Mudejar architecture. If you feel like an injection of culture, explore Seville's Museum of Fine Arts or the Archaeological Museum, or head to the Real Maestranza Bullring for insight into the Spanish tradition of bull fighting. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure. Optional dinner. Overnight in Seville.

Day 9

Seville – Tarifa – Tangier (Morocco) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer from Seville to Tarifa. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Ferry transfer from Tarifa in Spain to Tangier in Morocco. Meet your escort-guide at the port in Tangier, then transfer to your hotel to relax. Optional dinner in the hotel. Overnight in Tangier.

Day 10

Tangier – Chefchaouen (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy the city tour of Tangier. Stop first at the old town, locally called “The medina”. Visit the American legation, Dar El Oued Makhazen Kasbah, the Mendoubia Gardens, and the Grand and Petit Socco. Transfer to Cape Spartel, the meeting point of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Spartel was known to the Greeks and Romans as the “Cape of the Vines”. Visit the Cave of Hercules, which is Africa’s most north-westerly promontory with a strange sea window shaped like a map of Africa. Transfer to Chefchaouen, “the Blue City” and of the most charming towns in Morocco. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy an afternoon city tour of Chefchaouen including the kasbah of Chefchaouen. This kasbah belongs to the early 18th century, and was built by the legendary ruler Moulay Ismail (1645 – 1727). Stop next at Plaza Uta el-Hammam, which is the cobbled main square in town and where the striking 15th century Grand Mosque sits. Optional dinner. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 11

Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the UNESCO-sponsored Roman ruins in Volubilis, a Berber and Roman city partly excavated by the UNESCO. Volubilis was considered as the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Mauretania. The city was developed from the 3rd century BC onward as an Amazigh, then proto-Carthaginian, and from the 1st century AD onward, the city grew rapidly under the Roman rule. Continue to Meknes, the "Moroccan Versailles" and one of the oldest cities in the kingdom. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy the visit of Meknes. The city was the capital of Morocco under the reign of Moulay Ismail (1672–1727), a contemporary of Louis XIV. Stop at the massive Bab El Mansour gate, which is the grandest of all imperial Moroccan gateways. Bab El Mansour gate was completed by Moulay Ismail’s son, Moulay Abdallah, in 1732. Stop next at Hri Souani, which is a complex of three different buildings built for granaries and stables. This amazing site has been used as a scene for many films, the most famous of which is probably “The Last Temptation of Christ” in 1988 by Martin Scorsese. Late in the afternoon, transfer to Fes, the spiritual capital of Morocco. Optional dinner in the hotel. Overnight in Fes.

Day 12

Fes (city tour) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy the guided city tour of Fes. Begin with the entrance to the largest royal palace in Morocco. Continue with a panoramic view of the ancient medina. Enjoy an authentic experience at the traditional ceramic crafts village of Fes after that. Your next stop is Fes El Bali, the ancient town or Medina, which is a medieval part of Fes that has not changed for centuries. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the famous Al-Karaouine mosque, built by Fatima Al Fihria in 857. Al-Karaouine mosque became home to the University of Al-Karaouine, which is the first university in the world and the world's foremost center of learning at the beginning of the second millennium. The university was built by Fatima Al Fihria in 859, and, since then, it has become one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the Muslim world. In the medina, visit also a Merdersa, which is a Coranic school. Complete the city tour of Fes with the leather Souq and the oldest Leather Tannery in the world. Day 13

Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga (BD)

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the heart of the Sahara desert. The journey takes you through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop first in Ifrane, a charming town and ski resort. Ifrane is famous for its Alpine climate, European-style houses and its 1665 metres (5,460 ft) in elevation. The town experiences snow during winter months and a cool climate during summer. Ifrane is also the place where the lowest temperature was ever recorded in Africa, -24 °C in 1935. While in Ifrane, expect to find animals like the threatened Barbary Macaque and local tree species such as the native Atlas cedar, Scrub oak and the introduced London plane. Arrive at Midelt, a Berber town in the high plains between the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas Mountains ranges. Midelt is one of Morocco's principal cities for the mining of several minerals. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer through many Berber villages and along the Ziz valley to get to Erfoud. Enjoy 4x4 Jeep trip to Merzouga, which is the heart of the desert. Day 14

Merzouga – Tinghir – Dades (BD)

Breakfast in the desert camp. Enjoy 4x4 Jeep tour of the desert. Stop first El Khamlia village. Visit nomad families and share a cup of mint tea with them. Late in the morning, drive to Tinghir via Rissani and Tinjdad. Tinghir is a gorgeous 40km oasis, which boasts one of the largest palm groves in the country. Stop at the famous Todra Gorge, a 300m wall, carved deep into the High Atlas Mountains. Thanks to its robust rock sides with many uneven surfaces, Todra Gorge is popular among rock climbers. More than 150 routes rated French Grade 5+ to 8 have been bolted in the canyon. Todra Gorge was featured on the premiere of the United States reality show Expedition Impossible. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Leave Tinghir heading to Dades. The drive is spectacular, winding through stunning desert landscapes, villages with the expansive Jebel Sarhro lunar-scape. Dades is known as valley of figs. Dades valley featured prominently in a 2012 advertisement for the Cadillac CTS. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight in Dades.

Day 15

Dades – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. After the visit of Dades, transfer to Ouarzazate. The drive is spectacular, with hundreds of Kasbahs lining the route. Stop first at Kelaat M’Gouna, a big town which is famous for cultivating roses. Expect to find many fine, rose-infused products there. Visit Taourirt Kasbah, which is considered one of the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco. Next, visit the film studios where some of the most famous desert landscapes were and are still being shot. Leave Ouarzazate to the spectacular fortress of Ait Ben Haddou. The village is a great example of earthen clay architecture that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Ait Ben Haddou is an iconic landscape immortalized in such films as “The Man Who Would Be King (film) (1975)”, “Jesus of Nazareth (1977)”, “The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)”, “Gladiator (2000)”, “Son of God (film) (2014)”. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Cross the High Atlas Mountains along the pass of Tizi-n-Tichka to get Marrakech. Optional dinner in the hotel. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 16

Marrakech (city tour) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy the guided city tour of Marrakech. Stop first at the Koutoubia Mosque, which is an old monument built under the reign of the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184 to 1199). This monument inspired other buildings such as the Giralda in Seville in Spain and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. Stop next at the Bahia Palace. This Palace was built in the late 19th century and was intended to capture the essence of the Islamic and Moroccan style. Stop next at the Saadian tombs, which is a site that dates back to the time of the sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-1603). The tombs were discovered in 1917 and were restored by the Beaux-arts service. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Continue the tour with the world famous Jema El Fna Square where you will enjoy amazing performance of traditional activities by storytellers, snake charmers, peddlers of traditional medicines. Day 17

Marrakech – Essaouira – Marrakech (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Enjoy a full day trip to Essaouira. This relatively small, easily navigable beach city is ideal for free time. Essaouira has got a distinct multicultural feel, resulting from the large Portuguese, French, and Jewish populations that once called it home. Its mild climate and expansive stretches of ocean sand also place it among Morocco’s top beach towns. Essaouira’s walled medina was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 2001. Its well-preserved, late-18th-century fortified layout is a prime example of European military architecture in North Africa. For the visitor, the mellow atmosphere, narrow winding streets lined with colourful shops, whitewashed houses and heavy old wooden doors make it a wonderful place to stroll. Day 18

Marrakech – Casablanca (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco and its largest city. Enjoy the city tour upon arrival. Begin with an inside guided visit of the famous Hassan II Mosque, the landmark mark of the city with the tallest minaret in the world (210 metres (689 ft)). Stop next at Mohammed V Square in the city center. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Stop at Morocco Mall, the second-largest shopping centre in Africa with 200 000m² of floor space. Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to the district of Castelo, to visit the Castle of São Jorge, located on the highest hill of Lisbon, one of the most emblematic monuments of the capital. Then we will descend the old district of Alfama, characterized by its white houses, labyrinthine streets, inner courtyards and dead ends. Otional lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we leave to Belém, where monuments referring to the Maritime Discovery era in the 15th and 16th centuries were erected, such as the Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Jerónimos Monastery. Visit to the National Coaches Museum, containing one of the most important and rich collections of coaches in the world. Return to the hotel. Optional dinner. Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 21

Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure from the hotel towards Sintra, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover the charms and history of the town that enchanted kings and poets. Visit to the romantic National Pena Palace. If weather permits, we will then stop at the westernmost point of mainland Europe, Cabo da Roca. On the way to Cascais along the coast, be dazzled by the seascape. In Estoril, place where Ian Fleming got the idea for the James Bond character, we highlight the gardens of one of the largest Casinos in Europe. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Day 22

Lisbon – Obidos – Batalha – Coimbra (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to the charming village of Óbidos. Travel back in time to this walled medieval town and admire its Gothic churches and narrow, winding streets. Continue to Batalha to visit the church of the Dominican monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Proceed to Coimbra. Optional dinner. Overnight in Coimbra.

Day 23

Coimbra – Aveiro – Porto (B)

Breakfast in the hotel and check-out. Visit of Coimbra, the city of students, so called to host one of the first universities in Europe and the largest in the country. Stroll in the oldest part of Coimbra, made of narrow and steep streets that lead to the top of the hill. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Porto passing by Aveiro, the "Portuguese Venice", crossed by the Ria de Aveiro, lagoon basin where the fresh waters of the Vouga river mix with the waters of the sea, navigable by the moliceiros, small colored boats. Breakfast in the hotel. With a magnificent location near the mouth of the Douro and an architectonic ensemble of exceptional value, the historic center of Porto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 12th century Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace. Also discover other important places, such as the Lello Bookstore, the Majestic Café and the magnificent São Bento Station. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we leave in the direction of the Serralves Park which extends, from the House of Serralves, on 18 hectares which include gardens, forests, a rose garden and a romantic lake which are a real refuge for who wants to flee the confusion of the city. The day ends with a 50-minutes boat trip on the Douro river. Return to the hotel. Optional dinner. Overnight in Porto.

Day 25

Porto – Viana Do Castelo – Guimaraes – Porto (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Viana do Castelo, a seaside town, at the mouth of the Lima River, famous for its craftsmanship and for the colors of its regional costumes. At the top, overlooking the city, stands the shrine of Santa Luzia. Direction Braga, one of the oldest Christian cities in the world with a vast religious heritage, as are the sanctuaries that make up the triangle of faith: the Cathedral and the Sanctuaries of Bom Jesus and Sameiro. Continuation to Guimarães, considered as the cradle of Portugal, because it was born Afonso Henriques who will become the first king of this country. Associated with the formation and identity of Portugal, the historic center of Guimarães located within the walls has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO, based on the values of originality and authenticity that have guided its renovation. Return to Porto. Optional dinner. Overnight in Porto.

Day 26

Porto – Regua – Pinhao – Amrante – Porto (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Peso da Régua, located on the banks of Douro River, played a preponderant role in the production and marketing of Port Wine, since it was from this city that the wine barrels were transported by special boats equipped with a long rudder to Vila Nova de Gaia, where the wine was aging in the cellars. Continue to Pinhão, encircled by terraced hillsides that produce some of the world’s best port – and some stellar table wines, too – pretty little Pinhão sits on a particularly lovely bend of the Rio Douro, about 25km upriver from Peso da Régua. Wineries and their competing signs dominate the scene. Even the delightful train station has azulejos (hand-painted tiles) depicting the grape harvest. The town itself, cute though it is, holds little of interest, but does makes a fine base for exploring the many surrounding vineyards. Optional lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Porto passing by the charming town of Amarante stands on either side of the Tâmega River. The bridge of Amarante perpetuates the memory of the heroic resistance of the population against the Napoleonic forces who, at the beginning of the nineteenth century invaded Portugal.
