OUARZAZATE & AIT BEN HADDOU

This morning you will be met at your hotel for your full day excursion to Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou. During the drive you will be crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the magnificent Tiz In Tichka pass (2262m). This pass lies between the great Marrakech Plains and the gateway of the Sahara Desert.  Your first stop is at the spectacular fortress of Ait Ben Haddou, the iconic landscape immortalized in such films as, Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. You then continue along to Ouarzazate, also known as “Morocco’s Hollywood.”  Here you will get to visit the Kasbah Taourirt, one of the most beautiful Kasbahs in the country. At one point in the 1930’s, Kasbah Taourirt was considered the largest Kasbah in Morocco and today is classified as a historical monument giving tribute to the Glaoui. Next you will visit the Kasbah Tifoultoutel, with its beautiful sites over the valley.  Kasbah Tifoultoute is said to be over 300 years old, however the present structure is largely 20th century.  The Kasbah has been converted to a hotel in the 1960s for the cast of Lawrence of Arabia.  The next stop is at one of the film studios, where some of the most famous desert landscapes were and are still being shot. Afternoon transfer back to Marrakech for overnight.
